TL;DR
As a member of the Association For Software Testing, I am eligible to vote for three board members.
AST Board Member Voting
This year we can choose between four candidates. AST election board prepared a set of questions, here you can read candidate answers. Part of the survey was a question for our suggestion on how to make the election process better.
This was my answer.
Reading candidate answers did not provide me enough information about the candidate because when I compared those answers, I realized that they are very similar. For next year, I suggest answering those questions in video format. I would also suggest that each candidate gets one unique question related to some testing problem. I would like to know how their testing mind works. In the end, AST is here to enhance software testing craft. Thanks!
In the beginning, Google hiring policy was that everybody must be an excellent coding problem solver. Many critiques provided proof that this concept could not hire the most appropriate candidates. My opinion is that reason for that could be that candidates were excellent only in coding problem-solving. I am not sure how good they were at software testing.
Software testing organization should also consist of excellent software testers. This would not suffer from the Google hiring problem because software testers tend to have multidisciplinary skills.
