“Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.”
These are last words of Replicant from Blade Runner that had to die due to software instruction in his source code. Similar to this Replicant, I was also witnessing some epic moments of the Croatian Software Testing Community. Like this invitation for the first-ever Testing Meetup in held in Zagreb. Or waiting for an endless number of end-to-end Python tests to finish during the night shift, not finding the C-beams, but bug related to date change at midnight.
I started the community with Zeljko Filipin, with the best intentions for the software testing craft. I think we did it. From Speak Up meeting to ViaQA to Testival, we created a community of 800+ members on the Meetup platform.
And as of today, 1.12.2021 is enough. I am not more part of Testival organizations, I will not organize Meetups and the Conference.
As Zeljko is very close to making the same decision, I think that this could be very easily the end of the Testival community.
This is my heuristic based on my previous experience. But as we know that heuristics are fallible, I hope that the remaining Testival team would prove me wrong.
