TL;DR
How I prepared an eight-minute video for this event.
The Rules Of Three
My video talk about Rules Of Three and why they work will be part of the first Testflix event. Many thanks to the organizers from Testing Tribe for inviting me.
Preparation
I spent sixteen hours preparing this eight-minute video. On topic research, I spent 12 hours, and the rest went on video recording.
I first put all my notes in one Google document. Then I counted the number of words and trim that down based on the heuristic that my talk speed is 150 words per second. I needed to master this text to be able to repeat, not by knowing it by heart, but to tell a story about all points that I had in Google document. Based on that, I created fourteen slides.
The video has Slides that were not much help for me. I created topic slides for the audience. If I had gazed at the slides, then eye contact with the camera would have been lost. My heuristic was to first record two slides, then four, and repeating that up to the final number of slides. This gave me a total of almost 10 minutes, so I trimmed that down to a final duration of eight and a half minutes. I repeated the final duration three times to have minimum inconsistency with original notes.
