Seven Steps
These seven steps could be used to solve any problem, not just coding problems. This approach does not guarantee that problem will be solved but gives you a framework that helps you move your knowledge from Cynefin Chaos to (You Should Visit All Cynefin Quadrants) Obvious quadrant.
Kristin amplified in the introduction that interview coding problems are not real-world problems, to which I objected in the comment. Those problems are at the core of the Google search engine.
