TL;DR
When I started this post, new WordPress version forced me to use Gutenberg editor. This post will explain why is bad idea to force new features on users.
Why I use WordPress?
I use WordPress to create content about software testing. I want to use editor that will not slow me down doing that. Gutenberg editor slows me down because it forces users to set up post formatting before entering valuable content. That was the reason why I disable it in the first place.
My WordPress is hosted at Pagely. Reason is security, they automatically update WordPress and plugins. That is why I was hit with Gutenberg.
Solution
Reason why WordPress set Gutenberg editor as default could be attraction of new users. But what about old ones? I needed to install Disable Gutenberg plugin, which is crazy! Why is there no WordPress option for doing that? And that pluging has more than 200 000 installation, this is WordPress feedback about Gutenberg editor.
Conclusion
WordPress is open sourced, and I am not paying for it. I am paying Pagely. And here is WordPress risk of losing first place as blogging solution. In free market, there are companies that listens WordPress users satisfaction. If WordPress would continue with forcing features strategy, those companies could create export from WordPress, import to something else. Pagely, or some new player, could offer service to automatically move from WordPress to that new something. And there goes the WordPress into the history.
