TL;DR
To become a passionate software tester, we wrote that you need to invest your time into some new technology that could become hot tomorrow. But that investment takes time, and while you are still investing, this technology already becomes obsolete. The post is based on a remarkable book written by Chad Fowler, The Passionate Programmer.
How to decide which future technology you should invest your time? Technology in software testing that would stick and make you an advantage?
You need to do research about new software testing technology and methods weekly. What should be the source of this research? I use credible news aggregators:
I use RSS reader application NewsBlur. RSS reader helps me to quickly overview the article because it summarizes article title and first few lines. Then I can bookmark articles that caught my attention.
For example, I found this very promising: Nike’s plan to prevent counterfeiting by securing products using cryptographic tokens (source).
You need to understand technology to be able to test it.
